After 17 years of running traffic marketing + design, my career has taken an exciting turn from graphic design + marketing and moved into the area I am passionate about - sustainable paper. I have accepted a full-time position with
- a Canadian company that produces, converts and markets packaging and paper products composed mainly of recycled fibres.

My position will be the Business Development Manger, with
and I will be taking the Cascades sustainable paper message out to the Toronto Business Community. I see this as a natural continuation of the sustainable marketing message that I was promoting with traffic, and my work as Chair of the Sustainability Committee of the
. This is a fantastic opportunity to go out and affect real change in the way that paper and print is sustainably produced and consumed.

I am very interested in connecting with you if you are looking to produce your print materials on a 100% post consumer waste recycled paper that is FSC-certified and made in Canada. I’d be pleased to meet and present our exciting range of sustainable papers.

P.S. Cascades is the only Canadian paper company that does not own forests. All of the fibre used to make our 100% post-consumer waste paper comes from recycling programs. I guess you could say that your blue box is our forest!

Naturally,

Reach for Rainbow and join traffic in sending a kid with disAbilities to camp! We are proud to feature pro bono work we've designed for Reach for the Rainbow – an organization that enriches the lives of children and youth with disabilities.
Every year Reach for the Rainbow works with summer camps across Ontario and gives kids an incredible, integrated summer camp experience. traffic marketing + design provided Reach for the Rainbow with a new direction for their Sponsor-a-Camper program. traffic created a transformative campaign, visually demonstrating the impact that Sponsor-a-Camper has in moving kids from disability to ability.
The campaign was executed through the design and layout of information and donor cards – a special thanks goes out to Warren's Waterless Printing for providing the (sustainable) printing and production of these!

"We are indebted to the creative genius and generosity of the traffic marketing + design team," said Jennifer Jeynes, Manager of Communications & Public Relations for Reach for the Rainbow. "We feel confident that through this unique campaign many more children with disAbilities across Ontario will be able to enjoy the laughter, camaraderie and the gift of belonging they truly deserve."

You can visit Reach for the Rainbow at http://www.reachfortherainbow.ca to make a donation and help send a kid to camp!

traffic marketing + design inc. is very proud to announce the publication of a special report that we designed for our clients:
and
. traffic marketing + design provided the graphic layout and design of the EC3 Market Report Strategies for Success: Supporting Leadership Towards a Low Carbon Economy.
Mr. Andrew Bowerbank, President and Chief Strategy Officer of The EC3 Initiative has been a member representative of the United Nations Environmental Program for the past 2 years and will be providing this report to his associates attending UNFCCC-COP 15 in Copenhagen this week.
In August 2009 over 45 senior executives from 20 different industries gathered to discuss strategies for moving towards a low-carbon economy in Canada. Led by Mr. Bowerbank with the support of the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, PowerStream, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, and The Innovolve Group, the group explored opportunities in low carbon economics, clean energy technologies and the application of systems protocols in support of collaboration. Senior executives from over 45 leading corporations as well as local and federal government officials gathered to review potential strategies for the Canadian marketplace. The robust attendance of high-profile individuals and the insightful discussion at this workshop confirmed the confidence and drive to develop a new strategy for integrated market development called “EC3".

Shop Sustainable This Holiday Season

traffic marketing + design inc. is proud to be a sponsor of Shop Sustainable, a new eco-initiative...

traffic marketing + design inc. is proud to be a sponsor of a new eco-initiative encouraging consumers to shop sustainable this holiday season. The sponsorship is provided by our sustainable brand
.
<link http://www.shopsustainable.ca _blank>Shop Sustainable
, launched by
in partnership with
, is challenging consumers to shop ethically this holiday season.
Its goal is to raise general awareness for eco friendly products, and at the same time promote many Toronto based and online retailers who carry them.
Eco friendly gifts come in many different forms. They can be made locally with low energy, made with organic or recycled materials, made fairly and in fair working conditions, made with reduced or recycled packaging in mind, or made from natural materials. They do not require batteries, they are not made from plastic and other toxic substances, they are not produced in sweatshops and they are not packaged in layers of non-recyclable materials.
It might seem like eco friendly products are hard to find, but in reality there are several Toronto based retailers who make doing the right thing a lot easier for consumers. Shop Sustainable has something “eco” for everyone, including adult and children’s clothing, toys, personal care products, products for the home, coffee, chocolate, stationary, gadgets and gear and more.
The retailers participating in Shop Sustainable include: Baby on the Hip, Bullfrog Power, Caterpillar Baby, Chocosol, Daily Apple, Eco Flora, Greencricket.ca, GreenIsBlack.ca, Grassroots Store, I Recycle Computers, KaiKids.com, Kids on the Hip, Lileo, Merchants of Green Coffee, Me To We Style, Mountain Equipment Co-Op, Pistachio, PlanetForward.ca, Preloved, Sugar Moon Salon, Thieves, worldSALON, Zero Point and 889 Yonge. In addition, Sporting Life’s uptown location is participating as they carry the eco friendly, Canadian made clothing line Guats, who is a sponsor of Shop Sustainable.
Most people are now doing what they can to lighten their footprint, whether it means driving less, turning down the thermostat, or carrying reusable shopping bags. However, if consumers purchase just one gift or stocking stuffer this holiday season that is sustainable, then collectively it can have a very significant impact. Shop Sustainable challenges consumers to put their wallet where their heart is, for the planet.
In addition to feeling good about doing the right thing, Shop Sustainable is offering further incentive via an online contest opportunity. Consumers can visit http://www.shopsustainable.ca for their chance to win a gift basket valued at over $1000, full of eco friendly products from the participating retailers.
Sponsors of the program include
(GET), Toronto’s green business alliance; Fashion Takes Action who promotes sustainable practices within the global fashion industry;
, committed to promoting sustainable ideas for the home; and
, helping businesses communicate their green message.

At the recent Ontaro Library Association annual conference, S & B Books Ltd. unveiled the annual 'Take A Book Break' 2009 campaign poster. This year's poster is the 6th poster created by traffic marketing + design inc. for S & B Books and features the talents of award winning Canadian author and illustrator Mélanie Watt.
Watt, creator of the bestselling Scaredy Squirrel and Chester books (Kids Can Press) remarked, "The poster as well as the other pieces look fantastic! The response was great, I couldn't be more pleased."
Each year traffic works with a Canadian childrens' book illustrator to design a promotional poster aimed at public school libraries with a public service message encouraging children to read. Past posters have featured the work of Canadian children's illustrators Bill Slavin (2008), Barbara Reid (2007), Patricia Ann Lewis-MacDougall (2006), Ian Wallace (2005), and Barbara Spurll (2004).
"Take A Book Break campaign was facilitated by the innovative marketing talents of traffic marketing + design," commented Arthur Gale, President of S & B Books. "Our customers loved the campaign and have called for multiple copies of the poster and bookmarks as promotional give-a-ways to the children. Our business has increased and I do feel that the increase is as a result, in part, of the work done by traffic."
S & B Books Ltd. is a Canadian company serving the requirements of Public Library Systems across Canada for over 20 years. S & B Books Ltd. offers a specialized acquisition service for any Canadian, British and American print and non-print material.
